Cows and Bears

Ho, Adventurer!

Since I started playing I have struggled with the decision as to whether I should just explore everywhere on Tore (my main) or leave some areas to explore with Alts.  I've still not made a firm choice.  I have broadly decided I won't deliberately avoid exploring an area at the cost of having nothing fun to do.  I'll also try to keep the 1-15 areas for Alts that are starting out: always nice to explore home turf on a new toon.

As I don't have the time or inclination to do a Legendary weapon getting 100% world is not a priority.  In fact, if I did want to do that, 100% world would be the smallest hurdle to jump.

I thought it would be nice to explore Queensdale completely as I figured I'd never make a human (boring) but I have since decided a female human engineer might be good fun!

Pretty, isn't it?

However, with the announcement of Flame & Frost: Prelude I figured I should definitely go and get 100% completion on Diessa Plateau before the Living Story changed anything radically.  I have to say it's one of the more varied an interesting zones I've explored.  I really liked the autumnal aesthetic and a lot of the heart quests were quite novel.  The norn heart quests are quite samey throughout the Shiverpeaks; certainly there are enough dredge to last you a life time and Frostgorge Sound makes for a welcome break.

I think my favourite heart quest in Diessa was helping out with the gardening and my favourite dynamic event was cow training. A very enjoyable hour of gaming!

I should have taken a few more screenshots of some of my favourite areas on the plateau but I suspect the Living Story will take me back there soon enough.  My overall impression was bears, ghosts and cows.  Lots of cows.

Shrine of the Six

Hello there!

Odd to start a blog just as you begin playing a game only to reach the level cap before you post again, don't you think?  Well, in this case, no.  I was just enjoying myself too much!

Last weekend I reached 80 on my norn Necromancer.  I tried to play almost exclusively in the Shiverpeaks (which felt like home turf) and yesterday I finally managed map completion for Frostgorge Sound.  That was pretty good fun.  Of course I got distracted fighting dragons a few times but, hey, they were hard to miss!

Unfortunately I have missed 3 areas so I don't have my Shiverpeak Explorer badge but I want to go back and find the jumping puzzles anyway.

Having reached a nice natural end point yesterday, this morning I was free to do whatever I liked.  I had a good look at level 80 exotic gear last night and decided which dungeons I'd like to try to do.  So, one thing I could do is unlock all the dungeon waypoints.  However, I don't like to just run pell-mell through zones so I decided to go and explore Divinity's Reach in detail.

Having not played GW I'm not very familiar with the lore of the games so I enjoyed finding out about the six gods the humans worship and suddenly a few things made a bit more sense.  I still prefer the norn animal totems as a system of deification but that's for another blog.

I do intend to play some other characters and some point so I am somewhat reluctant to go and explore some areas on Tore.  I know I'll enjoy playing those other characters much more if I don't.

That's all for now, RL to attend!

Ho! Adventurer

My name is Tore Raghnar and I am a Necromancer.

Yup, I love sex with dead things.  Oh, wait, that's not right.

So, I recently began my adventures in Guild Wars 2 and aside from the fact that the trading post was broken for the first week, I have nothing but good things to say about it.

I'll share some of those things here.

Bye for now!
